  • To protect against workplace hazards and knee pains, proper lifting techniques must be used when you have to move old carpeting material and furniture before the installation procedure.
  • To prevent repetitive use of muscle injuries, rotate your work as much as is possible.
  • While carpeting, a knee-kicker tool is usually used to stretch carpet wall-to-wall. This can be a result of knee injuries due to an excessive force that is applied to the knee joint repeatedly. To avoid this situation, you can strike down while using 120-140 times your knees or use an alternative tool instead, which is called as hand-and arm-operated power carpet stretcher.
  • You should wear knee pads to secure your knees from flooring irregularities and track strips. This will help to lessen some of the pressure exerted on your knees from consistent kneeling.
  • A worker must be equipped with gloves to protect his hands against damage from sharp tack strips, staples, carpet cutting instruments, and sewing materials, etc.
  • Eye protection is too much a sensitive case. Use goggles or other suitable equipment to avoid serious eye loss due to sharp tool edges and flying objects.
  • Do not use any broken or imperfect tool. Ensure that your equipment is in good running condition before every shift and notify the supervisor if there are any damaged tools.
  • Carpet-cutting needs great cautiousness. Your hands and knees must be in the right positions before cutting to avoid accidents.
  • Directions are listed on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all padding adhesives, carpet, and glues.
  • Recover and rise slowly for extended periods after kneeling.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as they prevent puncture, cut and burn injuries from heat-tape, sharp tack strips, and carpet irons.
  • Keep away all such agents that can lead to fire as carpets are much sensitive to catch fire. Naked flames must be avoided near wool carpets, especially because they are highly flammable.
  • A room must possess a good ventilation system while installing carpets as the extreme temperature can cause suffocation if the room is not properly ventilated.
